“The Light: A Story for December” being shared at First Friends Meeting by Lia Scholl
“We told the story at our All Ages Worship service after a family-friendly pancake breakfast. The children LOVED the story—saying that their favorite parts were the fireworks and birthday cake! The children were surrounded by adults (who love the story, too!), and even the children who were hearing their first story were mesmerized.”
This month’s blog post only needs an introduction: it’s in the form of an interview, which you can watch below! First Friends Meeting in Greensboro, North Carolina hosted a Playing in the Light training for their volunteers and Friends from neighboring New Garden Meeting in November 2022. The children’s ministry at First Friends has grown in the last three years, but this is also the story of the creative ways they are finding to use stories from both Faith & Play and Godly Play in “All Ages Worship.” First Friends’ pastor, Lia Scholl, generously shared about their experience and the joys it has brought to the meeting, AND how she has created story materials “BIG” to use in the meeting’s worship space. Enjoy!
