On Sunday, September 21, we’ll gather online from our homes, meetings/churches, and in local groups to celebrate 20 years of Faith & Play Stories.
1-3pm Pacific, 2-4pm Mountain, 3-5pm Central, 4-6pm Eastern

STEPS TO BE AN IN-PERSON REGIONAL/COMMUNITY HUB:
- Register!
https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/jxjWxl3fRduhSqynKciQDg
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link for September 21. Join with Friends at your meeting or organize a gathering for local community of practice members!
- Share your hub
Share with F&P Stories that you’re hosting and who will be your tech host, so we can help to spread the word to others in your area and stay in touch with any hosting details: info@quakerfaithandplay.org. There will be swag to share with in-person hubs, so let us know you’re gathering!
- Reach out to your neighbors
Share the invitation to join you in-person with Friends in your region through your Quarter or Yearly meeting, reaching out to neighboring meetings, using social media and shared communications. If you want help to connect with people who have attended a training at your meeting or the area, let us know. This event is also open to everyone — current practitioners, parents and meeting members who love Faith & Play stories, and your children.
- Prepare for your tech
The event will be hosted by Faith & Play, but you will want to plan for how to set up your laptop or phone camera for a group gathering together. Be familiar with audio and video settings in case you need to adjust. For groups gathering in a meetinghouse, if that community uses hybrid technology for worship, ask for support to use that set-up as needed.
- Plan for the 2-hour event
The program schedule is shared below, but as a group you might choose to have your own story sharing and conversation together during parts of the program as noted below. (All times are PM, Eastern is shown here.)
A note about welcoming children: Being prepared for children to attend with adults is wonderful, and some of the suggestions below for in-person gatherings include ideas for stepping away from Zoom and being together in person for a story and fellowship. Beth Kelly, New York YM’s Children, Youth and Young Adults Community Director, offers this wisdom:
“One thing I was thinking of doing was having a grown-up work with the kids on setting up the “Feast” (fellowship) in the Common room during the welcome/gratitude at the beginning, then join us for the story, then go do their “work” while the ShareShop is going on. It seems especially important here to make space for young people, since F&P is all about their spiritual lives. But also parents won’t be able to come if we don’t have a plan!” Thanks, Beth!
4:00 Welcome
“Looking Back, Looking Forward: 20 years of Faith & Play”
Honoring Faith & Play mentor, trainer, and friend Caryl Creswell
4:30 Sharing Stories
Join a break-out room for a Faith & Play story experience.
Note: if you’re joining online as a group from one screen, you will only be able to join one break-out room/story.
*This is a time when a hub might choose to hear their own story in-person and not join a break-out room. If you will have a full story session with response time, plan for what materials you’ll need and set-up.
5:00 Shareshops
Select a topic and join a breakout room for sharing, learning, and conversation with our community of practice.
Note: if you’re joining online as a group from one screen, you will only be able to join one break-out room/story.
*This is a time when a hub might choose to have their own conversation in-person and not join a break-out room.
5:40 Fellowship!
Decide on refreshments for your gathering and who will arrange for them – we strongly encourage cake in some form at in-person gatherings, but as Godly Play reminds us: a feast isn’t what you have, it’s who you’re with!
